The Church Responds to Human Trafficking

The Church is mobilizing to protect people subjected to forced labor, sexual slavery, and commercial exploitation. “It is not enough to give them food and shelter. We need to understand why they have been trafficked,” says Theresa Symons of the Sisters of the Good Shepherd Asia-Pacific. Understanding is at the core of ICMC’s members’ human trafficking-related protection, prevention, and prosecution activities, which were shared at ICMC’s annual Asia-Oceania Working Group meeting in Bangkok last December.  (Cited January 2020)
