World Water Day
March 22, 2019
“22 March each year is World Water Day. It is a mean of focusing on the importance of freshwater and advocating for the sustainable management of freshwater resources.
World Water Day reminds people about the significance of fresh water and to promote sustainability for fresh water resources’ management. It’s a day to celebrate water. It’s a day to prepare how we manage water in the future. Each year World Water Day highlights a specific aspect of freshwater. For 2019 this is: ‘Leaving no one behind’.
At a time of immense global challenges – poverty, inequalities, natural disasters, humanitarian crises and forced displacement – the 2019 edition of World Water Day looks at why people have been left behind and how access to water and sanitation and sustainable water management can be drivers of change. World Water Day was officially assigned to 22 March in 1993 by the United Nations General Assembly. For More information www.unwater.org/worldwaterday”
