Our Journey of Learning and Self-Discovery…Week III @ Restful Waters, Singapore

After 19 days of intense learning, the eagerly anticipated Presentation Day finally arrived.  Adorned in their national attire, the participants exuded a mix of excitement, joy, and nervousness.  As guests arrived, the atmosphere in the room was filled with positive energy and anticipation. 

At 10am sharp, the presentations commenced with Sr Myriam from Vietnam, setting the tone for what promised to be a stirring event.  One after another, sisters and mission partners confidently took the stage to highlight their respective projects.  Each speaker delivered her passionate account of initiatives spanning various aspects, such as education for underprivileged children, tackling high dropout rates in schools, empowering women through skills development and entrepreneurship, creating safe havens for children in slums, ensuring access to clean drinking water in villages, and bringing solar power to a village devoid of electricity.  As the 13^th and final speaker of the day, Sr Jantana of Thailand, invited all guests to join her, to light a candle of Hope for the people.

Through the presentations, the audience gained profound insights into the extensive work undertaken by the Good Shepherd Sisters in Sri Lanka, Pakistan, South West India, Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar and Taiwan.  They shed light on the daunting challenges and adversities faced by many, including political turmoil, violence, human trafficking, climate change, poverty, mental distress and even suicide.  There was a wealth of knowledge to absorb and comprehend. 

While English may not be the first language for many of us, yet our presenters shone brightly through their determination.  Their communication was clear, and we, the audience, felt their unwavering commitment to improving the lives of those in need.

It was a most meaningful way to close the programme and to celebrate the Feast Day of St John Eudes. 

Congratulations to Sr Kalai, Sr Rini, Sr Jantana, Sr Apinya, Sr Myriam, Sr Assumpta, Sr Goretti,   Sr Jayamani, Sr Shanika, Sr Annunciata, Sr Euphrasia, Rita & Shireen for successfully completing the programme.  Thank you for your Zeal for mission.
