Voice Out 8 – Youth Festival in Tambunan, Sabah
September 29, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
The eight instalment of the “Voice Out” youth festival was a resounding success, with more than 800 visitors gracing the event with their presence on September 29 in Pisompuruan Square, Tambunan.
The highlight of the festival was a forum entitled “Just A Child, Not A Bride” which discussed the issue of child marriage with panellists such as Amy Dangin (KK12FM radio announcer), Elsie Primus (High Court deputy registrar), Philip Kitingan (District Chief) and Rex Alvin (previously with UNICEF).
The panellists broached the delicate subject by using humour, as well as language that could be easily understood by the audience, which mostly comprised students from schools around Tambunan.
Among those performing at the festival are Ayumi Yusof, Jay & The Rockafellas, Hector John and the Martinian Band.
Other attractions at the festival include a Free Market, as well as booths by Magic Bamboo, Thalassemia Sabah, Tambunan Community Booth, Aranggoi, Sabah Skills & Technology Centre, BeFrienders, Hospital Tambunan, Kivatu Nature Farm and Kounduan Kampung Nulu Enterprise.
The theme of the festival was “Dare to Stand Up —Bangkitlah”.
