MARYMOUNT CONVENT SCHOOL, LEADERSHIP TRAINING

As part of leadership training, three staff members accompanied 16 student leaders aged 9 to 12 on an expedition to Pukak, Sabah, East Malaysia to mingle with and serve 22 children just about their ages. The children who reside at the Good Shepherd Hostel have their homes kilometres away from school. They are mainly children of rubber tappers and would have to walk about two hours to school were they to commute from their own homes. After some squimishes, the budding leaders communited with their counterparts with their limited Bahasa Melayu and were soon interacting freely with the language of love and understanding. The Marand having little to live by. It had been a good experience for both staff and children from both sides. The Marymount girls brought books to help build up their library. This outreach took place on 26th and 27th May 2013.
