International Day of Happiness
March 20 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
On the 20th of March 2024, Good Shepherd Student Care, Singapore celebrated the global campaign of International Day of Happiness.
Promotion of the Value of Happiness
Through this, we hope the students will better understand the value of happiness and find practical ways to promote it in their daily lives. The teachers planned various activities to keep it fun and light for everyone.
Theme: Happier Together
At the start of the activity, the students gave a scale of their feeling of happiness at that moment. Everyone continued with singing along to the song “Happy” by Pharell Williams. The students also got to respond to the question “What makes you happy?” Some said food, others, family, toys and many more. The theme of International Day of Happiness 2024 is “Happier Together”. It means our happiness can also come from feeling connected to others and being a part of something bigger.
Body-Scanning Exercise & Five Senses Walk
The lower primary students: Primary 1 and Primary 2, did Body-Scanning Exercise and Five Senses Walk to appreciate and find a collective joy together as a class.
Four Simple Actions:
While the upper primary students, Primary 3 and above, got to learn about how to be happier together. The four simple actions are: to give positive comments to as many people as possible today, really listen to what people say without judging them, to share an encouraging stories from the news to inspire others and reach out to a friend or family member who needs support. Afterwards, the students played a game called “Spread the Happiness”. The students would find a partner to draw a portrait of each other. After they are done with the drawing, everyone’s drawings were displayed and they would go around to write a positive comment about that person on their portrait. They wrote for each other with, “You are helpful.,” “You are a nice person to play with,” “You help others learn,” It was a pleasant experience as they took their time to think and leave the positive and meaningful comments to their friends.
