GOOD SHEPHERD MISSION ENRICHMENT JOURNEY (GROUP 1)
The Good Shepherd Mission Enrichment Journey is a response to Province Direction Statement, Sept 2016 -“Ensure sustainability, visibility and presence of Good Shepherd Mission through systematic formation for Mission Partners in deepening our Good Shepherd Spirituality and Charism.” Sr Helena and Sr Maria were tasked to bring to Mission Partners from Singapore and Malaysia the Program which takes participants on a journey of discovery, encounter and engagement in Good Shepherd Charism and Values.
Program Logo: The merging colours portray the vibrancy of this journey which is an integrated process of DISCOVERY, ENCOUNTER,and ENGAGEMENT with our founders and Good Shepherd Mission today. Zeal is the heart of the Good Shepherd Mission Journey.
On 22 Feb 2017, 13 Mission Partners from Singapore, Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur and Sabah gathered at Good Shepherd Place, Singapore to embark on the inaugural 3D2N program. Nervous laughter broke out when Sr Helena welcomed the group to a 3-day holiday. Some had made plans to sneak off to check emails. Their bodies were in the room but their minds were still plugged in to their work. However, by lunchtime on the first day, the buzz around the room was audible, laughter signaled the forging of friendships and partnerships in mission.
What some participants had to say:-
Eden of Marymount Kindergarten, Singapore
“The Good Shepherd Mission Enrichment Journey was a good experience for the participants. Listening to the stories and insights during sharing after every reflection encouraged us that we are not alone in this mission and that we are blessed to be a part of something beautiful. The Sisters helped us to have a better picture of the mission and the different ministries. Knowing about the founders and the early lay partners helped us understand the history and keep our focus on the call of saving souls, despite the challenges or obstacles along the way. As mission partners, we are called to respond and contribute in any way we can. Each part played, no matter how big or small, is valuable. The emphasis on the core values are significant because they serve as a guide, and awareness of these values makes us more conscious to act according to the Good Shepherd spirit, which in time (hopefully) will be instilled in us. May what we see help us to feel, and in turn move us to act and actually do something.”
Odette of Good Shepherd Kindergarten, Singapore
“When I was called to participate in the enrichment programme, I was very reluctant because I could not put my work aside but it turned out otherwise. It not only deepened my knowledge of our founders through their works and deeds, the Good Shepherd spirituality and also forming bonds with my fellow friends. It was truly enriching and fulfilling for me.”
Dion of Women Shelter, Kuala Lumpur
“The Enrichment session really helps me to understand what I am committed to. In this mission, it is more than just ‘completing the job’. This session makes me realize ‘why I choose to be in Good Shepherd’ instead of other NGO.”
Cheryl of Marymount Convent School, Singapore
“It was a truly eye opening and enriching retreat. It has given me a better understanding of the Good Shepherd Mission. I’m truly inspired by all the work that has been done an am eager to do my part as a lay partner.”
