On Saturday, 21 July 2012, we were blessed by God with wonderful sunshine for it was our school’s sports day. As the radiant sun smiled on us, the parents waited in great anticipation to cheer our little ones as they got ready to show off their skills in the various relay items. Prior to this day, the children were diligently trained in their march past, songs performing items as well as their actual relay items. As the day drew nearer, a tentage was set up and parent-volunteers were roped in to decorate the tentage. The balloons, coloured flags gave it a festive and celebratory mood. Parents and their children were equally excited.
On the actual sports day, parents, grandparents and former students came in by droves holding their video cameras or cameras. The highlight of the event was a special performance by our K2 children entitled, “Kinder Gym”. The children were specially trained by Mr Aw and his team for this occasion. The various stunts displayed by them brought cheers and loud applause from the spectators.

After their hard work, what was left awaiting them upon completion of their performance were the prizes. This year, we had the honour of having Ms Cecilia Ee, our Chairperson from the Board of Management to give away the prizes to our first session children and Sr Cecilia Liew, our Mission Director to give the prizes to our second session children. The lovely gifts in the form of a bag and a cap printed with our school’s logo as well as goodie bag were awarded to our children, all of them were winners on that day.
The final highlight of the day was our parents’ games. They were equally enthusiastic as the children as they joined in the fun. Indeed the family’s spirit could be felt as parents lingered around even after the event just to chit-chat with the teachers or with other parents.
The staff sat together to have a lovely curry chicken lunch, lovingly prepared by Auntie Jinn. What was heartening for me was to witness on this special occasion the team spirit of each staff as they went about organizing and coordinating with one another in order to ensure that everything went on smoothly. I was equally edified by the generousity of our parent-volunteers as they offered their time and effort to help.
I would like to express my gratitude to my team of committed and dedicated staff, Mr Aw and team, our kind and loving parents and friends, volunteers for making this event so memorable and enjoyable for all. May God bless and enrich each one of you with His abundant gifts of peace and good health. Just keep on smiling and live in the knowledge that God is always beside you.
