Foundress Day Celebrations at Marymount Convent School 15 – 23 April 2021

April 15, 2021 @ 8:00 am - April 23, 2021 @ 5:00 pm

Foundress Day Celebrations at Marymount Convent School

15 April 2021 – 23 April 2021

Staff and pupils could not gather in the hall due to the Safe Measure Managements, but it was not going to stop Marymount Convent School from celebrating her foundress day.

It was one week of celebrations which began on Thursday, 15 April, with the launch of colouring and design competition. With a brief virtual journey to Angers, both staff and pupils sat through a sharing on St Mary Euphrasia’s life. This was followed by the launch of the week-long activities as follows:

Colouring and Design Competition

Primary 1 and Primary 2 – Colour the image of St Mary Euphrasia

Primary 3 to Primary 6 – Using the virtual journey which they went on and the information they gathered from the sharing, pupils had to design a background with St. Mary Euphrasia in the foreground.

Storytelling and Chat session with Sr Delphine

The pupils had the opportunity to interact with our school supervisor, Sr Delphine Kang, during recess. They could ask Sr Delphine any question on our Mother Foundress, the work of the Good Shepherd Mission in Singapore and around the world as well as listen to stories on SME, her philosophy and values.

Quiz

A quiz was held on Kahoot. This was to assess the learning of the pupils on their Foundress. There was much euphoria as pupils’ excitement and energy filled the air at school.

Feast Day Eucharistic celebration cum Speech and Prize-giving Day

The celebrations culminated with a Feast Day Mass on Friday, 23 April, celebrated by Fr Gerard Louis, CSsR from the ‘Novena’ Church of St Alphonsus. His homily on emulating St. Mary Euphrasia’s values; particularly the value of perseverance (the school’s value focus for the year) was indeed extremely inspiring. Following the Mass, the school held her speech and prize-giving day; honouring the prize winners of 2020 and giving thanks for the blessings she received the past year, keeping in mind St. Mary Euphrasia’s quote “Gratitude is the memory of the heart’.

Each pupil and staff was given a cupcake with the image of St. Mary Euphrasia imprinted on it as well as a tote bag.

It was indeed a memorable and meaningful celebration, in honour of our dearest Mother Foundress, St Mary Euphrasia Pelletier.
