Celebrating Foundress Day with Reflection and Gratitude

April 24 @ 8:30 am - 1:30 pm

On 24th April 2025, our Ahuva Good Shepherd’s children participated in a meaningful activity that combined with reflection, gratitude, and inspiration to celebrate the Feast Day of our Foundress, St. Mary Euphrasia Pelletier.

The children walked through a mock-up tunnel, symbolizing the historic tunnel built in 1855 that connected St. Nicholas Abbey to the Good Shepherd Convent. This tunnel allowed the sisters to access the abbey without leaving their grounds, providing aid to women and girls in need. Through this experience, the children gained insight into the Foundress’s dedication of serving others.

As the children walked through the tunnel, they reflected on their thoughts and desires. Their heartfelt expressions revealed their gratitude for the Home and the values instilled by St. Mary Euphrasia. Some of their thoughts included:

“Dear Mother Foundress, thank you for founding this Home to help children that don’t have a home. We are grateful. Thank you so much! I love you 💖.”

“I hope I will be more motivated in my studies and in everything I do. I pray that I will be more responsible, independent, loyal, kind, loved, pretty inside and outside. And I pray for a good life, Amen.”

“Dear Mother Foundress, thank you for being so kind to everyone. We will follow the good things you do because kindness always passes down. Thank you for this home to help the children. Thank you! I love you.”

“I hope to go home to see all my family”

“I wanna tell Mother Mary how grateful I am for her and everything she did for the sisters, without her no one would be who we are today! 🙂 Mother Mary showed us that everything in life is possible! 💖 I wish to go back home and not fight with my mum!”

The children’s reflections demonstrate their appreciation for the Home and the values of kindness, compassion, and responsibility. St. Mary Euphrasia Pelletier’s legacy continues to inspire them, fostering a sense of gratitude and purpose.

The Foundress Day celebration was a meaningful experience for the Ahuva Good Shepherd’s children, allowing them to reflect on their thoughts and desires while honouring the foundress’s legacy. As they continue their journey, they will carry the lessons learned and the inspiration of St. Mary Euphrasia’s kindness and dedication with them.
